After walking away from the Democratic Party in 2016, Melik became a leading voice in the America First, working-class conservative movement, helping shape national conversations around accountability, freedom, and reform. His career spans federal government service, policy communications, and political campaign strategy, including serving as a political appointee under President George W. Bush and later advising congressional offices, advocacy organizations, and national media outlets on legislative and messaging strategy.

A proud son of Mississippi and longtime resident of Washington, D.C.’s East of the River community, Melik earned his B.A. in English from the University of the District of Columbia.
